Melrose also has a rich history, with architectural attractions, museums and exhibitions including the oldest continuously inhabited village in Scotland. The Heart of Robert the Bruce is said to be buried in the grounds of the magnificent Melrose Abbey and Sir Walter Scott’s Abbotsford House is just minutes away.
Melrose is also great for sport lovers with the famous Melrose Rugby Football Club founded in 1877 (the home of the original seven a side rugby tournament). Tennis, bowling, cricket and golf are all catered for and families will love the delightful Gibson Park with childrens play area.
The other Border towns are all nearby – each offering something different and if sand castles are the order of the day, the coast is less than an hours drive away.

Scott’s View is a viewpoint overlooking the valley of the River Tweed, which is reputed to be one of the favourite views of Sir Walter Scott.
