River Tweed Fishing Break Scottish Borders The River Tweed has always been internationally famous for its salmon fishing, with people coming from all over the world to fish it. There is huge range of fishing available throughout the salmon season, which runs from 1st February to 30th November, much of it at surprisingly low prices.

The Eildon Hills are right on our doorstep and offer a pleasant walk with rewarding views. There are many walking routes to suits all ages and abilities from short strolls to the more challenging St Cuthberts Way and The Southern Upland Way. There are also a wealth of recognised cycle routes throughout the Borders. With its central location Melrose makes an excellent base for cyclists to explore the beautiful countryside. Melrose is also part of the four Abbeys cycle route. Other activities available locally include horse riding and tennis.

Golf Breaks Scottish Borders UK  With over a dozen courses within a 20 minutes drive of Melrose, it is ideally situated for those who want to explore the golf courses in the area. From nine hole local to championship standard courses the area has something to offer everyone. Visiting Stately Homes & Gardens in the Scottish Borders Discover the history of the Scottish Borders by exploring the four Border Abbeys at Melrose, Dryburgh, Jedburgh and Kelso. Visit the large Country Houses in the Scottish Borders including Mellerstain House, Paxton House, Manderston House, Bowhill, Abbotsford or Traquair. There are also many castles and towers to visit including Floors Castle, Thirlestane Castle, Neidpath Castle, or explore the more modest Smailholm Tower, Jedburgh Castle with its Old Jail and Hermitage Castle.
